Home Sweet Home.......

Well it has almost been a week since Chris flew back from Houston. I am LOVING having him home for a while! We have truly had the best time this week just hanging out and getting stuff done around the house! The weather here has been pretty much rainy or overcast every day this week, but Chris is getting some work in! He is still pretty comfortable with his game and is working hard preparing for second stage! This Sunday he will travel north to Bowling Green, KY to see his teacher for a check-up lesson and to get some good practice in. Other than that, it has been pretty calm around here! We do want to thank everyone for their phone calls and emails over the past week! Chris is really getting excited about second stage! I keep telling him that HE CAN DO IT!! Also want to mention that we have a new "little one" in our family! My cousins in Austin, TX, Lora and Casey Ferguson, had their baby on October 29th! His name is Cash Scott Ferguson. I must mention that it was a year ago today that Chris and I got engaged, so this is a very exciting time of year! Blessings to you, Lora and Casey! We can't wait to see his little face and to love on him! I think that is it for now! Stay tuned over the next few weeks! As of right now Chris will play on November 18-21. 1 down.....2 to go!

Thanks be to God!! Chris has passed his first test! One down, two more to go! Chris wound up shooting Even par for round 3, and -1 for round 4, with a total score of -7, tied for 6th! I am so proud of him and I know he is so excited and relieved to have one stage down. We just want to thank all of you so much for your continued prayers and support. As we chase this dream, we realize that this is not possible without God, and through Him, is the only way we will succeed in life! Chris' intentions for each day on the golf course are to learn as much as he can from his experiences, and build on them for the next opportunity that comes. While growing up, I watched my grandparents have such a passion for golf as a hobby. Never in my dreams would I have imagined I would marry a professional golfer! One thing I have learned through dating and marrying Chris is that I did not realize how much of a mental game golf is. Sure, you do have to have the talent, and God has given Chris the amazing physical talent to play this game, but along with that talent comes the mental aspect of the game. I may be a dummy, but this is what I believe differentiates the field in a lot of situations. It all starts with believing in yourself and believing that you are good enough to win and you are good enough to succeed. While this is present in most circumstances in life, it is especially draining in golf. Even the best (Tiger Woods) get mentally drained after a tournament! With that being said, I try to remind Chris just to believe in himself. God has given him this awesome talent to play golf, and he CAN and WILL succeed in this career! Of course, the trick is doing it on God's timing, not ours! :) I tell Chris every day that it is not a matter of IF he is going to succeed in his career of golf, but WHEN. He has already been successful thus far and I believe that he is very capable of building on that success. With all of that being said (sorry I am on a "I believe in Chris" high!), Chris comes home tomorrow morning and I will be picking him up around 10:30 at the airport! I am so excited! The next step of our journey begins. Preparing for Second Stage, the second test! I will be busy doing some errands and bookwork for Chris, he will be practicing his butt off every day! I have every confidence that Chris will be ready to face this next grueling challenge of Q-school. We thank God for the ability to have this opportunity and for all the blessings He has given to us. Words can not express how grateful we are for each of you who make this possible. I wouldn't have my life any other way right now, and I think Chris would say the same. May God bless all that we say, think, and do, and may the glory be His now and always! Stay tuned over the next few weeks as we prepare for what lies ahead! Much love from Nashville!!!!!

No Golf today!

Hello all!

I just wanted to let y'all know that they did not get to play today due to weather, as the course was unplayable. I did talk to Chris a little while ago and he was headed to a movie apparently with the rest of the golfers! I am guessing they are all bored! He will tee off at 8:40 in the morning to finish the 9 holes from round 3 (remember he is Even par through the first 9), and then they will make new pairings once everyone completes their third round! Please pray that Chris will remain calm and that God will give him the strength to play 27 holes tomorrow! Pray that the golf course will be back to normal since they have had huge amounts of rainfall and that the sunshine will stay out! I looked and there is a 0% chance of rain! I told Chris that it is almost better that he didn't play today because the sun will be out tomorrow for him to win this thing! We appreciate all the prayers and support! God is good and stay tuned for the final results of First Stage tomorrow! Much love from Nashville (and Houston too!)

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.....

Well, today was a BEAUTIFUL day! Not so much with the weather, but with Chris' golf round! I am sure many of you have looked at his score and have seen that he shot a 66!!! Yes, that's right, a low 66! How exciting! He told me he just hit most shots close, so it made it easier on the putting for sure! :) What you probably have not seen is that due to the weather coming, they all played 9 more holes making it a 27 hole day! As of right now, Chris is Even after 9 holes this afternoon and they are supposed to play 9 more tomorrow. He did tell me that he is to tee off at 9:10 tomorrow, but looking at the weather forecast, they may not get off until later. Chris also informed me that they have announced that the number to get through first stage is 23 plus ties. That is great news, but I still think Chris has a chance to win this first stage! So here we are, more than half way through this grueling first stage! Only 27 more holes to go, and then he will get to come home for a few weeks! Continue to pray that God will continue to lead the way and that Chris will remain calm, but confident in his game. Pray that God will give him the strength to get through the rest of this week.....or maybe you should pray for me to get through the week! :) We are constantly reminded of the love and support each one of you has shown us! We are truly blessed and thank you from the bottom of our hearts! I think that is it for now, but stay tuned for an interesting day tomorrow due to possible storms to hit Houston! Due to sneaky Hurricane Rick, Chris will now be teeing off at 8:51 in the morning! They are going to try to play 27 holes, weather permitting! Par is your friend....

Well, as most of you have probably seen, Chris shot Even Par today, which has placed him at tied for 16th! I just talked to him and he sounds great! He said if he had one word for today it would be "average." Nothing really fell for him putting wise, but overall he feels that he is playing well. He said his distance control and hitting the ball are where he wants it to be. The main thing he was having any trouble with was the speed of the greens. I am just the reporter, so don't ask me what any of that means! He ended up having one bogey and one birdie. Someone once told me ,when I first started dating Chris and learning about the scoring of golf, that par is your friend! I could not agree more. Of course I know Chris wants to be at the very top of that leaderboard, but he still has 54 more holes of golf to play! He is only a fourth of the way through first stage! If any of you have been watching the weather, you may have noticed that there is a nice little Hurricane headed for Mexico and Texas. I think Houston is going to get some rain tomorrow afternoon, so tomorrow morning, Chris will be teeing off earlier than what was posted before and they will be trying to get in 27 holes tomorrow. I am not sure what time he will tee off, but as soon as I know and can figure out what is going on, I will post it on here. I also asked Chris about the amount of people that advance to second stage. He said if he had to guess, it would be 18 or 20. At this point, I am thinking he still wants to win this thing and I know he is very capable. Once we figure out those details, I will post it too! Pray that the weather doesn't get too bad in Houston and that they are able to finish doing what they have worked so hard all year to do! IT IS HERE!!!!

Well, it was another great day out on the golf course for Chris! He had a great day out there playing with one of his close friends and former Ole Miss teammate, Kyle Ellis. Kyle was in our wedding and I know Chris is glad to have a buddy with him at his site! IT IS HERE!!! I am trying to think of an analogy of what this experience would be to all of you. I am thinking Christmas Eve or the night before a big performance! Geez, I don't know! The last week Chris was in town (the week before the Tarheel Championship), he just kept telling me, "I am just so ready to start Q school!" This is it. This is what these players prepare for all year long. It is the big "final exam" for professional golfers to determine who will be the "chosen ones" for the Nationwide and PGA for 2010. I believe Chris is ready for his "final" and I know he feels that he is going to do well on it! I am so proud of him and I, and many others, believe he can do it! In looking back at this past year, we have seen much success! Chris gained a new sponsor, who we are pleased with and who has challenged him to better his game, set goals, and achieve success. We got married almost 2 months ago, and Chris finished 4th on the money list of the Tarheel tour. I am happy to report that Chris is physically feeling well! Last year at 1st stage, he played the entire week with the flu! :( Being the worrier that I am (got that from you Mom!) I went to Walgreens and filled a whole gallon-size Ziploc full of medicine! I am assuming since I did that and spent all that money, he won't get sick! Isn't that how it always works? So here we sit, waiting to see over the next 4 days what the outcome will be! I do know this, no matter what happens, God has a plan and His plan is perfect in every way! Chris is prepared as best as he possibly can be. I know he will give it his all and lean on God to help him get through this week! Thanks to all of you for your love and support! We are truly excited to see what God has in store this week and look forward to getting one stage closer to the PGA! Much love from Nashville(and Houston)! Tee Times for Tuesday and Wednesday

Just wanted to let everyone know that the tee times have been posted for the first two rounds. Chris will be teeing off at 10:20 on Tuesday and 9:17 on Wednesday. As far as I know, the number of players that advance to Second stage has still not been released. When I talk to Chris tonight, I will see if he has all of that information! I did talk to him this morning and he sounds great and so excited to be at 1st stage! For now, I think that is all...but stay tuned....I will report tonight after I talk to him! Much love for now!

A Golfers Prayer for Everyone!!!

I just got off the phone with Chris. He sounds great! He seems to be really excited to be in Houston and happy with his game. He has a great friend, Mike Regenold (aka Miguel) on the bag this week looping it for him. I know they going to be a great team! As I find myself thinking about Chris and his week ahead, I searched for a prayer that might pertain to golfers. It sounds really goofy, but sometimes I am not too sure what I should be praying for! I sometimes feel that I sound greedy just asking for Chris to do well in his golf game! :) I thought this prayer was great because it is something that all of us, golfers or not, can take away and apply it to our lives. While this profession seems to put people in the spotlight, I think we can take something away from golf even if we don't play! (That would be ME!) What a challenge for all of us! Let us all remember that we are on this Earth for a purpose that God has planned for us. May we continue to glorify Him in all that we say, think, and do. May we honor him by our actions and may He continue to bless our lives in exactly the way He intends for it to be blessed! Thanks to each of you and stay tuned! There is much to be reported! Golfers Prayer

“Almighty God, as we play through our 18 holes of life, we pray that you will give us a drive that’s both long enough to reach our goals, and yet straight enough to keep us out of trouble."

“Help us avoid the traps and hazards of life; nevertheless, should we find ourselves in them, give us the tools, skills and desire to escape them with no penalty. May we always stay in bounds.”

“Help us to be willing to stand by - and not play through - those in genuine need. May we always play with honor.”

“And finally, when we’ve putted out on the 18th green, we pray that we will have demonstrated the integrity of our character, so that you will judge us worthy enough to join your threesome and play eternally on your heavenly course. Amen.”

Q-school is here.....

Hello everyone! Well it is that time of the year, Q-school time! UGH! I am not sure who dreads it more, Chris or myself! Chris played the Egolf Tour Championship this past week in Pinehurst, NC, and while he finished 6 under par, tied for 28th, he felt that he played well. (I always think he plays well!) I will say that the second day of this tournament, he played in pouring rain all day, but he told himself before going out that he was not going to complain that the morning group had dry weather! :) Overall, I think Chris is satisfied with his game right now. Of course there is always something to work on, I sense that he is pretty satisfied with his play. I keep telling him this year is going to be the year! His incentive for getting to 3rd stage is that I am going to take off work and fly down to be with him at 3rd stage, so we will see if it works! I think being on the PGA is good enough incentive though! If you get a chance this week, just lift up Chris in prayer. Pray specifically that God will calm his heart and that he will do his possible best. I always tell Chris before he goes out that all he can do is his humanly best, and God will take care of the rest. How reassuring to know that God is so powerful and He is our source of strength and success. Chris and I just want to thank each of you for supporting us in our lives. We are truly blessed and continue to thank God each day for all of the many blessings He has given us. Although Chris and I can not see the future God holds for us with this career path, it is so reassuring to know that He has great plans for our lives and that we can just lean on Him and trust him through faith in Him. I have to admit, some days I really just want to know what is going to happen, but ultimately I think not knowing allows us to be challenged and to go deeper in faith! Without God we are nothing, and through Him we can do ALL things! Thanks be to God for this opportunity Chris has to pursue his ultimate goal...the PGA tour! I believe that through Christ Chris WILL make it! Much love for now and stay tuned!!
